Welcome

This site is designed to help academics and students conceptualize concepts from Introduction to Sociology in the real world. It is a place to see examples of students using their sociological imaginations IRL (in real life)! In Introduction to Sociology, I explain that using your sociological imagination is like putting on a pair of glasses that make you see the world differently. When wearing our sociological imagination glasses we don’t just see our own experiences, but how they are part of larger social structures and histories.

Sometimes students struggle to use their sociological imaginations and to take field notes that are helpful in analyzing society, my hope is this site can provide examples of strong student work in Introduction to Sociology. In these selected assignments and examples, students are asked to use their sociological imaginations and concepts from class to observe the world outside of our classroom.

All student work displayed has student names removed.
